Their Defense Remains Strong
When the Broncos won the Super Bowl three years ago, their defense was what carried them. And they continue to boast one of the NFL’s top defensive units in 2018.
The numbers aren’t what they were in 2015, but some of the names remain the same. Namely linebacker Von Miller, who was named Super Bowl MVP in Denver’s 24-10 win over the Carolina Panthers three seasons ago.
Unlike past seasons, however, the 2018 Broncos are better against the pass than the run. They allow the ninth-fewest passing yards per game (229.9) as compared to the second-most rushing yards per contest (148.1).
But in terms of takeaways, they rank ninth with 11 (seven interceptions, four fumble recoveries). And oddly enough, no Denver player has more than one pick.
As far as sacks, Miller leads the league with 7.5 and fellow linebacker Bradley Chubb ranks fourth with 6.5 to account for 14 of the Broncos’ 22 sacks on the year.
What I’m trying to say is don’t take Denver’s defense lightly. It’s still full of playmakers.
