Denver Broncos’ Bo Nix Lands Concerning Take After Week 1

The Denver Broncos went into Seattle with one goal. They aimed to prove the world wrong by facing down a Seahawks team that has continued to have their number in big spots over the past decade or so. However, it was another loss in Seattle that left the Broncos with more questions than answers.

One media outlet didn’t mince words in calling what they believed to be a spade by its name.

Writing in an article that gave impressions of every game in Week 1, Bleacher Report claimed Bo Nix “looked” like the sixth-best quarterback in the 2024 NFL Draft.

“Bo Nix was the sixth of six quarterbacks drafted in the first round of this year’s NFL draft. He looked like it,” the Bleacher Report article read.

Nix threw two interceptions and looked continuously confused on most downs against Mike MacDonald’s secondary formations. He failed to throw for a single touchdown, but did tally his first professional score on the ground. Nix threw for 138 yards and saw his greatest “success” come during a late-game sprint up the sideline against deep coverage.

In other words, he looked like a rookie quarterback and far out of the running to become this year’s C.J. Stroud.

Bo Nix faces shortened leash from exhausted Broncos fan base

Heading into the showing in Seattle, Broncos fans were optimistic, but most also were far from shocked when their rookie quarterback came up small. If Russell Wilson was unable to save their team, Nix also was going to be mortal heading into the year.

With hopefully the floor getting set in Week 1, fans hope to see a growing arc from Nix this season. At this point, avoiding an 0-2 start against Mike Tomlin’s perennial playoff contending Pittsburgh Steelers unit seems like a stretch goal. However, one could argue that Sean Payton looked past the Seahawks to focus on how to defeat Russell Wilson in Week 2.

That said, looking past Week 1 is a stretch at best in favor of Nix. Still, with only more games in the future, the time for waiting, worrying, and stressing is over. Now, it is simply time to play ball.

Will Bo Nix blossom this year or will Denver Broncos fans slowly walk into the realization that they need to start again from scratch years from now?
