Denver Broncos have the pieces to improve win total in 2020

Re-Tooled on Defense

With head coach Vic Fangio at the helm, the Broncos defense will be in good hands entering the 2020 season. Defensively, they got off to a slow start last season but the more reps each player got in Fangio’s system, the more they improved.

The Broncos added pro-bowl cornerback A.J. Bouye via trade with the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for a 2020 fourth-round selection — a great value trade to add a cornerback of Bouye’s high-caliber.

With Bouye, Kareem Jackson and Justin Simmons patrolling the backend, the coverage team includes several well-rounded defensive backs. In addition, the duo of Von Miller and Bradley Chubb who will come of the edge to hunt down opposing quarterbacks are two that rank near the top of pass-rushing tandems.

Last season, Chubb suffered a season ending ACL injury so he wasn’t quite able to get his feet wet in Fangio’s system. However, the last full season in which Chubb and Miller played together they combined for 26.5 sacks between the two. With a healthy season between the Broncos duo of sack artist, their defense should receive a jolt in productivity.
