Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown is quarterback Jared Goff’s favorite target, but over the past couple of weeks, Goff has had a hard time finding him.

St. Brown logged just three catches for 21 yards in the Lions’ disappointing loss to the Chicago Bears last weekend, and back in Week 13, he finished with just two receptions in a win over the New Orleans Saints.

Goff spoke about St. Brown’s lack of production this week, saying that Detroit is doing whatever it can to get the wide out the football.

“Well, the Saints game, they doubled him,” Goff said, via Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. “They paid a little bit more attention to him in this game. I don’t believe they quite doubled him. But yeah, it’s what good players get. Good players get doubles often and he’s gotten that at times this year and sometimes he’s able to beat the double and it doesn’t really matter, but yeah, trying to get him the ball in different ways.”

St. Brown has hauled in 87 receptions for 1,063 yards and six touchdowns in the 12 games he has played this season.

“I think he’s doing a great job,” added Goff. “He’s been very accountable of things that he feels like he can do better and then for me as well, I’m very much just talking to him about ways that I want to try to do better for him and get him the ball in certain ways a little bit better than we have in the last couple weeks.”

In spite of St. Brown’s struggles, Goff is confident that the star pass-catcher will find his way.

“But he’s one of the best guys I’ve ever been around and have no doubts that he’s going to be just fine, and we’ll finish this season off pretty well,” Jared Goff said.

Amon-Ra St. Brown, who played his collegiate football at the University of Southern California, was selected by the Lions in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

He was a pleasant surprise during his rookie campaign, catching 91 passes for 912 yards and five scores. The 24-year-old followed that up by hauling in 106 receptions for 1,161 yards and six touchdowns last year.

Detroit is 9-4 this season and sits comfortably in first place in the NFC North. It will host the Denver Broncos on Saturday night.
