The Green Bay Packers picked up an impressive victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 12 at Lambeau Field on Sunday Night Football. The 27-19 victory was their third in a row and fourth in their last five games, pushing their record to 6-6 on the season.

With the win, the Packers now hold one of the Wild Card spots in the NFC, tied with the Minnesota Vikings, Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams with 6-6 records. Their rest of season schedule isn’t overly daunting, either, as there isn’t a team with a record above .500 left.

However, their path to earning a playoff spot did hit a snag on Sunday night. Wide receiver Christian Watson, who has really begun finding his footing in the last two games, suffered what looked to be a hamstring injury late in the fourth quarter as they were icing away the game.

Watson took a quick end-around shovel pass from Jordan Love and was able to gain enough yardage before coming up lame and going down. There is some hope that it was only a cramp that Watson was dealing with, as he was seen walking around the field after the game exchanging pleasantries.

However, Dr. Jesse Morse on X, formerly known as Twitter, shared a much more concerning update. This is the fifth right hamstring strain for Watson since 2021, as he missed the first three games of the 2023 season dealing with one.

Morse believes Watson is likely to miss one or two weeks depending on the severity of this strain. It is a tough blow for the Packers, who will turn to Romeo Doubs and Dontayvion Wicks to step up should Watson have to miss more time.

Watson had two of his better games of the season against the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving and the Chiefs yesterday. In those two games combined, he caught 12 passes for 165 yards and three touchdowns, adding two rushes for 15 yards.

That is the kind of impact the Packers have been waiting to see from the 2022 second-round pick out of North Dakota State. Watson has game-breaking ability and talent but has struggled to stay healthy throughout his career.
