Ryan Tannehill
Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill just might be the most polarizing quarterback in the league. Not only among casual fans, but arguably more so within the fanbase itself.
It seems like I can’t go a Sunday without seeing a veritable “Twitter war” breaking out between the so-called “Tannehill apologists” and the “Tanne-haters”. It’s kind of incredible the amount of emotion the man seems to elicit. Is Tannehill a bottom-feeding quarterback like some would have you believe? No. Is he one of the better quarterbacks in the league like others would have you believe? Also, no.
The truth is, as with most things, somewhere in the middle. Tannehill isn’t a great quarterback, but he’s not bad either. And that’s someone you can win with in today’s NFL if you’re willing to build around them.
Through two weeks of the season, it looks like the Dolphins finally have the pieces around Tannehill to make him a consistently successful quarterback. Tannehill hasn’t put up spectacular numbers through the beginning stages of this year, but he’s been solid. That’s all the team needs from him. As a fan, I really couldn’t ask for anything more from the guy.
Through 2 games, coming back from a knee injury and 1+ year off, Tannehill is:
104.9 Rating
450 Total Yards
4 Touchdowns
2 Interceptions
72.5% Completion
7.8 Yards per Attempt
I’m sorry, but what are you looking at if you’re angry w. this?

In yesterday’s victory, Tannehill led the Miami Dolphins offense on two scoring drives, with one touchdown to tight end A.J. Derby, and another touchdown to offensive weapon Albert Wilson. More importantly, Tannehill didn’t throw any interceptions, and was 17-of-23. Moreover, he added 44 yards on the ground, picking up a couple of key first downs with his legs.
A big step for a guy coming off a major knee injury.
Tannehill played a solid game against the Jets, but it wasn’t all positive. He only managed 168 yards through the air, and did put the ball on the ground twice, losing one fumble. If the Dolphins are going to continue winning, those numbers are going to have to improve. Still, through two games Tannehill is rocking a 104.9 passer rating with 450 yards and a 72.5 completion percentage.
That’s impressive any way you slice it.
