The Miami Dolphins had a historic offensive performance in Week 3 against the Denver Broncos. They won the game 70-20, setting numerous franchise records in the process of their blowout victory.
Miami fell just short of breaking the all-time record for points in a game, which is 72 set by the Washington Redskins in 1966. The Dolphins had a chance to break that record but instead of kicking a field goal late in the game, they opted to kneel on fourth down to not disrespect their opponent.
The performance was extremely impressive as the Dolphins gained 726 total yards, 350 on the ground and 376 through the air. Even crazier is that they accomplished that without one of their offensive stars in the lineup.
The Dolphins played in Week 3 without wide receiver Jaylen Waddle, who was in the league’s concussion protocols. He suffered the injury in Week 2 playing against the New England Patriots and was not cleared in time to play.
However, there is a good chance that he is back on the field for the Dolphins in Week 4 when they face off against the Buffalo Bills in a huge matchup. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Waddle is out of the league’s concussion protocols.
That should put him on track to play in the AFC East rivalry game this weekend. That is good news for the Dolphins as they will need all hands on deck to face a Bills team coming in with a lot of momentum, scoring 75 points in the last two weeks combined.
On the season Waddle has caught eight passes for 164 yards without a score. While those statistics may seem underwhelming compared to what we have seen from him in the past, if he keeps up that pace he will set a new career-high for yards per reception and yards per game.
