Carson Wentz Leads NFL in Passing Yards & TDs
The Philadelphia Eagles were hit hard with the injury bug last season. The unit most effected by this was the Eagles wide receivers. Despite the lack of firepower at wide receiver, Wentz still managed to throw for 27 touchdowns.
While 27 touchdowns do not seem like a lot, Wentz’s three leading receivers were his two tight ends and his running back. With a healthy Alshon Jeffery, Desean Jackson, and a rookie playmaker in Jalen Reagor, Wentz has a lot of receivers to work with.
Here is an incredible stat, Wentz was the first quarterback to throw for over 4,000 passing yards without having a wide receiver over 500 receiving yards. It is very likely he will have three receivers over 500 receiving yards. When the Eagles receivers are healthy, they can beat you in so many different ways.
Desean Jackson has made a career out of taking the top off of defenses. Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert are likely the best pair of tight ends in the league. Miles Sanders is a dual-threat running back.
When healthy Alshon Jeffrey is one of the best red-zone targets in the league. However, the receiver to be most excited about is rookie Jalen Reagor. He is a dynamic player who will provide instant offense. Take a look at his college highlight tape via Harris Highlights.
Let’s not forget how magnificent Wentz was in 2017 with 33 passing touchdowns despite missing three games due to injury. Coming into 2020, Wentz has better weapons than he did during that year. It’s possible he could lead the league in both passing yards and touchdowns if he stays healthy.
