Miles Sanders, Running Back
Miles Sanders had an outstanding rookie season, showing flashes of kill that every team would want from a franchise back. He has versatility, speed, and agility. However, as stated previously, the Eagles’ offensive line has a few key pieces that will not be with the team this year. Whenever an offensive line goes through a transition, it affects the entire offense. Sanders could be in for a boom or bust season.
Last season, Sanders averaged almost five-yards per carry as part of a by-committee backfield. He should receive the majority of the carries in Philadelphia this season, paving the way legitimate Pro Bowl caliber production.
Although Sanders looked dynamic last season, he was behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL. Let’s not forget, Brandon Brooks and Jason Peters won’t be suiting up for Philly this year. Because of this, Sanders won’t have the same running lanes he had last season.
In addition to the potential decline in the Eagles’ offensive line impact, there is a chance that Sanders gets worn down as the season goes on. Ultimately, as great as Sanders may be, there is a chance this season ends up very disappointing given the the lofty expectations.
