How Important Is Signing Dez Bryant Now?
The Eagles are hurting at the receiver position with Jeffery, Hollins and now Wallace out. As unreliable as the ground game has been, the receiving corps is killing all chances of a repeat. The Eagles dealt with injuries last season, but their receiving corps was intact. This allowed Wentz to put up the stats that had him in MVP discussions up to his late-season ACL injury. Now, with a slew of injuries, backup Nick Foles no longer looks like the QB who led an incredible championship run, instead.
For the Eagles to turn their passing attack around, general manager Howie Roseman must find a way to get free-agent wide receiver Dez Bryant in an Eagles uniform. With the Cleveland Browns trading wideout Josh Gordon to the New England Patriots Monday afternoon, that leaves Bryant as the best threat available.
Bryant has been holding out for a great deal, but the Eagles are desperate. How are they supposed to be considered contenders if Wentz has no one to throw the ball to? Nelson Agholor has caught 16 passes for 121 yards, but has done so averaging just 7.6 YPC. Adding a player like Bryant will give the Eagles a middle-of-the-field threat and allow Agholor to stretch the field.
Bryant will be a perfect addition, plus this will allow him to seek vengeance on the Dallas Cowboys twice this season, since that was his plan when he was let go.
