Eagles’ Darius Slay Gives Glowing Praise To Jalen Hurts

The Philadelphia Eagles have had one of the best offenses in the NFL this season. With the front office going all-in on upgrading the skill positions, quarterback Jalen Hurts has flourished in the passing game.

The Eagles had spent a lot of draft capital in recent years on the wide receiver position, but nothing was sticking. J.J. Arcega-Whiteside was selected in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft and a first-round pick was used on Jalen Reagor in 2020. Neither player panned out, as both are no longer on the team. But, in the last two drafts, they have found much more success.

In 2021, the Eagles selected reigning Heisman trophy winner, DeVonta Smith with their first-round pick. In 2022, they used one of their first-rounders to trade to the Tennessee Titans in exchange for A.J. Brown, which has been a home run move.

Hurts has elevated to MVP level, as he is squarely in the discussion to win the award this year. The improved talent around him, as Philadelphia also has an excellent group of running backs in Miles Sanders, Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell, makes for a well-rounded attack offensively.

Now, there are players from their defense looking to get in on the act. Star cornerback Darius Slay heaped a lot of praise on Hurts recently. He would love to give wide receiver a shot as he thinks he could excel catching passes from Hurts.

“Coach, I’m going to receiver because I know I could get 1500 yards in five games f****** with Hurts.”

Slay is putting together another Pro Bowl-level season with three interceptions, 12 passes defended with 43 combined tackles. Playing opposite James Bradberry, they are arguably the best cornerback duo in the NFL. While catching passes from Hurts as a receiver would likely be enjoyable, shutting down opposing ones likely brings him much more joy on the football field.
