Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles continued asserting their dominance in Week 14 as they went on the road and decimated their NFC East rivals, the New York Giants. Philadelphia won the game 48-22, taking control in the first quarter on their first drive of the game and never relinquishing the lead after that.
The Eagles scored touchdowns on their first three drives of the game, putting New York in a 21-0 hole before they scored for the first time. Overall, they scored on eight of their 12 drives, two of which were at the end of the first half and a kneel on the final play of the game. So, in actuality, the Giants kept the Eagles from not scoring on only two real drives in the game.
Philadelphia was clicking on all cylinders offensively, taking full advantage of a decimated Giants defense. Leading the charge once again was Jalen Hurts, who added a few more feathers to his cap in his pursuit of the MVP award.
Hurts completed 21-of-31 pass attempts for 217 yards and two touchdowns. He was once again a force on the ground, rushing seven times for 77 yards and another score. Hurts has now scored a rushing touchdown in four out of the last five games, as the Eagles’ rushing offense is getting the job done on a weekly basis.
The rushing touchdown was also his 10th of the season, giving him double-digit scores on the ground for the second consecutive season. That is actually an NFL first, as Hurts is the only quarterback in league history to have double-digit rushing touchdowns in back-to-back seasons.
That is quite an achievement and goes to show just how much of a dual-threat that Hurts is at the quarterback position. With his development in the passing game, Hurts has quickly ascended the ranks as one of the best players in the NFL at the position.
