Eagles Predicted As Landing Spot For This Intriguing Linebacker

A mass exodus ensued to the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. That is one of the outcomes of being a good franchise; other franchises around the league want to poach people to experience that same success.

Both the coaching staff and roster were hit hard as offensive and defensive coordinators Shane Steichen and Jonathan Gannon took head coaching jobs with the Indianapolis Colts and Arizona Cardinals. Eight starters and key contributors from both sides of the ball also departed, leaving a few holes on the roster.

The Eagles have a deep team, so there are internal options to promote into larger roles. But they did reinforce some of those holes on the roster with some moves in free agency and general manager Howie Roseman once again putting on a masterclass during the draft.

Philadelphia should contend not only in 2023 but for years to come with the foundation that has been put in place. If their young players develop and play up to their capabilities, this is a scary team.

If there is one position that the Eagles could use some reinforcements at, it is linebacker. Roseman has shown that isn’t a position they are going to commit big money to as T.J. Edwards and Kyzir White both left in free agency.

2022 third-round pick Nakobe Dean is expected to step into a starter’s spot after playing a very minimal role as a rookie. Nicholas Morrow swapped places with Edwards, leaving the Chicago Bears and signing a one-year deal worth just over $1 million with Philadelphia.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if Roseman dips back into free agency to bring in a veteran with some experience. One player who would fit the bill is Myles Jack, who has been predicted to land with the Eagles by Bill Barnwell of ESPN.

Jack has a connection to Philadelphia. The general manager of the Jacksonville Jaguars, who selected him in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft, David Caldwell, now works for the Eagles. His fit in their defensive system would also be an ideal one as the defensive line can create enough attention, enabling Jack space to make plays.

The last two years have been a struggle for him in pass coverage, which was once his bread and butter. Landing with the Eagles will help him get back on track as he is surrounded by a ton of talent.

A lot of eyes will be on the Eagles given the success they are predicted to have. That could help Jack, who is still only 27 years old, rehab his value in hopes of landing a multi-year deal next offseason.
