As the 2020 NFL season continues to draw closer, the Atlanta Falcons are hoping to be one of the biggest surprises in the league. After a disappointing 2019 season, the Falcons went out and made some big offseason moves. One of those moves was the addition of star running back Todd Gurley.

Following his release from the Los Angeles Rams, Gurley didn’t waste time signing with the Falcons. It is a return home in some aspects, as Gurley played his college football for the Georgia Bulldogs.

Granted, there are some concerns about Gurley’s health. His knee has been a major concern since last offseason and that is a big reason the Rams moved on from him.

In a recent quote, Gurley opened up about how he is preparing for the upcoming season with the Falcons. He is working out hardcore. Gurley stated that it is the most he has ever worked out.

“I’m not even going to lie, I haven’t worked out this much in my life,” Todd Gurley said in the video and adding, “I mean, it literally hasn’t been nothing to do but to work out.”

Last season with the Rams, Gurley was given a very inconsistent role. L.A. was trying to keep him healthy and fresh. Despite the limited role, Gurley did enough to prove that he still has some good football left in him.

Gurley ended up carrying the football 223 times for 857 yards and 12 touchdowns. He also caught 31 passes for 207 yards and two scores.

Obviously, those aren’t the numbers that fans have become accustomed to seeing from Gurley. But, they were enough to intrigue the Falcons.

Atlanta is hoping that Gurley can come in and give them some consistency on the ground. Matt Ryan and Julio Jones are still one of the most lethal quarterback-wide receiver duos in the league, but defense have been able to focus on shutting down the pass. Gurley could open the door for the aerial attack.

Expect to see Todd Gurley look to prove a point this season. The Falcons are going to get a very motivated version of the star running back. This move could end up being a major steal for Atlanta.
