Fantasy Football: 5 Bounce-Back Must Starts in Week 2

No. 2: Tight End David Njoku

It’s weird to think a Cleveland Browns player should be listed as a bounce-back, should-start fantasy football option. But that’s what you should consider with tight end David Njoku.

Njoku was likely a sleeper option in deeper leagues anyway, especially if you didn’t have a run at a top-tier tight end during your draft. And while many fantasy owners are scrambling to claim the Raiders’ Jared Cook off the waiver wire for Week 2, you might be safer just putting Njoku back in your starting lineup.

He’s currently owned in 81.8 percent of leagues but started in just over 30 percent of them. And while his three-catch, 13-yard performance during the Browns’ 21-21 tie against the Pittsburgh Steelers shouldn’t get you excited (4.3 points in standard PPR leagues), one has to figure his drops were impacted by the rainy weather and generally sloppy play from both sides of this Week 1 AFC North bout.

The Browns travel to New Orleans to take on the Saints in Week 2, so you won’t have to worry about weather. Sure, we should expect the Saints defense to bounce back in this contest. But this unit will likely focus its attention on Cleveland’s top Week 1 offensive standout, wide receiver Jarvis Landry, leaving Njoku as a nice fallback option for quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

Unless your league penalizes for drops, Njoku is a safe bet to start.
