Cam Akers
Earlier this offseason, the Los Angeles Rams decided to release Todd Gurley before his lucrative extension even kicked in. Nevertheless, it didn’t take long for the Rams to replace Gurley, taking Cam Akers with the No. 52 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.
In his final season at Florida State, Akers totaled 1,369 yards from scrimmage and 18 total touchdowns despite running behind a putrid offensive line. Upon his arrival in Los Angeles, the former Seminole is joining a backfield that also features Darrell Henderson and Malcolm Brown.
Of the two, Henderson figures to have a more prominent role as he enters his second season with the Rams. However, seeing that Akers was the first player that Los Angeles selected in this year’s draft, Sean McVay has lofty goals for him in 2020 and beyond. Provided that, Akers should be seen as more of a long-term selection in fantasy football drafts.
