Fantasy Football: 5 potential risky running back plays in Week 1

Week 1 is finally among us and that means fantasy football is back. The beginning of the week will now be full of research and decisions based on player matchups and productivity. One of the premier positions is in the backfield.

The running back position has completely taken over fantasy football. Players like Christian McCaffrey, Saquon Barkley, and Ezekiel Elliott are being taken top three across all platforms in fantasy football.

The running back phenomenon can be attributed to the duel-threat abilities that can be extremely beneficial in point-per-reception (PPR) formats. This has been the trend for years now and it will not change.

It can be difficult to draft running backs at times given that many teams use a committee. There are only a handful of teams that feature one back over three downs and give them ample touches per game. It is important to have handcuffs on the bench just in case.

When setting your Week 1 lineup, there are some obvious options to have in your lineup and some that should be given a second thought. Here are five options that could be risky heading into Week 1.
