5. Jordan Howard, Miami Dolphins
Jordan Howard was one of the offseason additions for the Dolphins. They also named Ryan Fitzpatrick as their starting quarterback and revamped their offensive line. Despite the upgrades, Howard is a fringe fantasy football starter in Week 1.
The New England Patriots had one of the top defenses in the league last season. They may not be at the level of last year’s team, but the Patriots will still be a force on defense.
The Patriots allowed just two touchdowns to running backs in 2019. Howard will be first on the depth chart but Matt Breida will also see some time, especially in the pass game.
In Week 1, it might be hard to trust any Dolphin. This may not be the case all season if some of their talent breaks out such as Mike Gesicki and DeVante Parker. Howard can be viewed as a flex option in non-PPR formats. His lack of receiving ability makes him a bench option in PPR formats.
