2. Kenyan Drake, Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals traded David Johnson to the Houston Texans in exchange for DeAndre Hopkins. This means Kenyan Drake is set to be the top running back in Arizona. He could be a breakout candidate over the course of the season but he has a tough matchup in Week 1.
Arizona will play the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. This is one of the top defenses in football. Drake is going to get a bulk of the carries but it is likely that he will be corralled for most of the game. The ceiling he has for fantasy football scoring will be limited as a result.
The only saving grace is his receiving ability. Drake is a capable receiver out of the backfield. The Cardinals are going to be a passing team and that could be enhanced if they fall behind early. Either way, Drake is a risky play.
The Cardinal offense is going to have to be seen before they gain trust. This is the second year with Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray and now Hopkins is in the mix. While Hopkins is a player to start every week, Drake is not. Proceed with caution when considering Drake as a top running back option.
