5. Emmanuel Sanders, New Orleans Saints
Emmanuel Sanders was a weapon down the stretch of the season for the San Francisco 49ers in 2019. He landed a contract with the Saints in the offseason is and expected to compliment Michael Thomas on the other side. While Thomas is arguably the top receiver in the league and should be started every week, that is not the case for Sanders.
The Week 1 matchup against Tampa Bay is not a great matchup for the veteran receiver. The Buccaneers’ secondary was strong during the second half of the 2019 season. They did not allow a receiver to score a touchdown over the final three games.
This momentum could continue into 2020. Sanders just may not get the targets in Week 1 to make him a reliable receiver in fantasy football.
Many will see the name and think of the offense of the Saints. This does not mean Sanders will come in and be a force right away. Think twice about inserting Sanders before kickoff.
