Fantasy Football: 5 sleeper waiver wire targets following Week 1 action

Week 1 sets the tone for fantasy football season. As we wind down the week, owners are starting to predict how their lineups will look throughout the course of the season. For others, they will be searching for answers along the waiver wire.

There are always instances where players do not workout or they lose carries to some incoming players. This was especially true of names like Mark Ingram and Austin Ekeler in Week 1. The Ravens dominated the Browns and split carries between their two running backs.

It was J.K. Dobbins who won the goal line carries and scored two touchdowns to Ingram’s none. Ekeler led the Chargers in Carrie with 19 but rookie Joshua Kelly scored the only touchdown of the day. He finished with 12 carries for 60 yards.

At the wide receiver position, the best of both worlds show up. Michael Thomas finished with just three catches for 17 yards in a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In the same game, Mike Evans caught just one pass for two yards but it did go for a touchdown. On the other hand, DeAndre Hopkins thrived in his first game in Arizona with 14 catches for 151 yards.

Week 1 is always a nice measuring point to see where your team matches up. Whether you were on the winning or losing side, teams will be active on the waiver wire. These five players will be big targets along the wire heading into Week 2.
