Chase Claypool, Pittsburgh Steelers
After back to back impressive performances, is now the time to buy stock on Chase Claypool? It is no secret that the Pittsburgh Steelers have a history of drafting good wideouts. Emmanuel Sanders, Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith Schuster, Hines Ward, and the list just goes on and on. Last year, the spotlight was on James Washington as most were expecting JuJu to get the AB treatment. While Washington didn’t have the year most wanted, it was also because Big Ben was hurt.
This year, Claypool seems like the new man who is emerging in the lineage of great wideouts that Pittsburgh has drafted.
An important element in Claypool mania is that Diontae Johnson has been hurt for the last week and a half. It has allowed Claypool to get more reps and as of late, he has been producing at a high rate. This week, it seems that Johnson is on pace to return. While we have a pair of 5-0 teams in the Steelers and Titans set to battle it out, it is hard to bet against Claypool.
This Sunday, Claypool will be facing off against a Tennessee pass defense that ranks near the bottom of the league currently allowing 272.8 yards per game. Claypool is currently owned in 89.3% of fantasy leagues. He has seen a big spike in roster spots after going off two weeks ago, posting 4 touchdowns.
In the last three weeks, Claypool has been a viable asset for teams as a FLEX and/or WR3. This week, going up against Tennessee, look for Claypool once again to be involved heavily in the passing game. The Steelers aren’t afraid to hand the ball off to Claypool as well.
