It’s unclear whether Tua will even start week one at this point, and the abbreviated offseason due to the COVID-19 pandemic won’t help his cause either.
Ryan Fitzpatrick proved to be a competent starter down the stretch last season and has the capability of winning a few games with this improved Dolphins squad. It’ll all come down to how fast Tua can pickup the playbook and effectively execute what’s asked of him.
But if we’re being real, it’s hard to imagine Tua not seeing the field pretty early on this season. With weapons like wideout DeVante Parker, who had a breakout season in 2019, tight end Mike Gesicki, who caught five touchdowns in the second half of the season, and newly acquired running back Jordan Howard, Tua has a solid supporting cast to help him through his transition to the NFL game.
Expect Tua to score a total of approximatley 200 to 250 fantasy points this season in standard leagues. That would equate to about 17 to 21 passing touchdowns, 3,000 to 3,500 passing yards, and possibly a rushing touchdown or two.
He could be a huge steal in dynasty drafts that allow to to carry over a player into next season, especially since you won’t need to use a high round pick to get your hands on him.
Tua could potentially be a stud in year one, but if you’re a smart fantasy owner, you won’t bank on that happening. He’s certainly worth a late round pick as your team’s backup.
