In 2018, with the prospect of a full season of Jimmy Garoppolo under center, the San Francisco 49ers were a popular sleeper team. But that went off the rails in Week 3, when Garoppolo suffered a torn ACL and missed the rest of the season. The 49ers finished 4-12.
Garoppolo stayed healthy last season, and the 49ers fulfilled their potential. They won the NFC West at 13-3, and went to the Super Bowl.
Garoppolo was efficient piloting one of the run-heaviest offenses in the league last year. He was fourth in the league in completion percentage (69.1), fifth in passing touchdowns (27), third in yards per pass attempt (8.4) and 12th in fantasy points per pass attempt.
If Garoppolo were to be unleashed in a pass-happy offense, it’s worth wondering where his ceiling would be (fantasy or otherwise).
