Fantasy Football outlook for Bears RB David Montgomery

There’s a lot of potential for David Montgomery to be a breakout fantasy player in 2020. He put together a nice rookie season, going over 1,000 total yards and scoring seven touchdowns on the year. But, he was held back a bit by the lack luster offense he played in — which mostly stemmed from poor quarterback play out of Mitchell Trubisky.

Despite who’s under center for the Bears this season, whether it’s Trubiksy or newcomer Nick Foles, Montgomery should see a heavier workload in 2020. Bears general manager Ryan Pace even said to reporters that he expects big things out of Montgomery in year two.

Many fantasy experts have Montgomery as a fringe RB2. There’s certainly potential for him to creep into RB1 territory, but he’ll have to take some touches away from backfield mate Tarik Cohen if he hopes to be recognized in that regard.

Regardless, Montgomery still saw the majority of the touches when the offense approached the goal line last year, ranking sixth in the NFL in carries inside the five yard line.
