Fantasy Football outlook for wide receivers from the NFC South in 2020

NFL Draft, Falcons, Julio Jones

A player that needs no introduction in fantasy football is sven-time Pro Bowl receiver, Julio Jones. He has been a fantasy staple at the wide receiver position almost every year since he entered the league back in 2011. His 1,394 receiving years in 2019 was his lowest total since 2013, and Jones still finished as the WR3 in PPR. A ridiculous example of how consistently dominate Jones has been.

It’s difficult to knock anything from Jones’ fantasy profile, but there is one thing that seems to elude Jones every year and that is touchdown production. Just one time in his career Jones was able to reach double digit TD’s.

In 2019 he scored four in the first three weeks, then did not score another TD till Week 15. In what has become a somewhat comical trend, if Jones could just find the end-zone more he would be in a “Megatron”-type tier. With all that said, Jones is as safe a WR1 as you can get and at worst – a top-15 overall pick in 2020.

Now, we move on to the Falcons #2 wide receiver and prime breakout candidate, Calvin Ridley. A lot people are pegging Ridley as this year’s next stud WR1 in the making. With good reason, as the 3rd-year receiver has the talent, rising past production and a clear path to even more targets in 2020.

Gone from the Falcons are Austin Hooper and Mohamed Sanu’s 139 combined targets. Which will help increase Ridley’s target share on the team to way past 100. This should allow Ridley to easily clear 1,000 yards for the first time. Sprinkle in seven touchdowns and we are looking at a strong season for the Bama product. With a ADP of WR20 and almost a top 50 pick, Ridley’s stock continues to climb. He is safer as the WR2 on your roster, but Ridley has the upside to be a top-12 WR.
