Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 6

TEs to start in Week 6

Lions’ T.J. Hockenson (vs. Jaguars): Once again, the Lions are in a prime spot to have plenty of success on the offensive side of the ball. Therefore, besides Stafford, Swift, and the WRs in Detroit’s offense, T.J. Hockenson could also be in line for a spectacular performance in Week 6 versus the Jaguars.

Hockenson has been fairly consistent this season, averaging 11.75 fantasy points in the first four games for the Lions. He could have the best game of the season against a Jacksonville defense that has conceded a whopping 12.6 yards per attempt to TEs, which is the most in the NFL.

Falcons’ Hayden Hurst (vs. Vikings): Everyone who took Hayden Hurst in their fantasy football drafts this past offseason are likely disappointed in his output thus far. The former first-round pick of the Ravens, who was traded to the Falcons earlier this year, has just one game where he scored more than 10 fantasy points.

Hurst is dealing with a back injury that has him listed as questionable for Sunday’s bout with the Vikings. But if he plays — and Julio is out — Hurst could see plenty of success against a Minnesota defense that is permitting 11.8 yards per attempt (second-most in the NFL) and a 56 percent success rate (12th worst in the NFL) to TEs.

Other TEs to consider in Week 6: Giants’ Evan Engram (vs. Washington), Packers’ Robert Tonyan (vs. Buccaneers), Dolphins’ Mike Gesicki (vs. Jets), Vikings’ Irv Smith Jr. (vs. Falcons)

TEs to sit in Week 6

Bears’ Jimmy Graham (vs. Panthers): Jimmy Graham has quickly become one of NIck Foles’ go-to targets for the Bears, commanding 10 targets in the two games he’s played with Foles. He also caught a touchdown in Week 5, giving him four touchdowns on the season, which is the second-most among TEs.

While Foles has always taken a liking to targeting his TE, he may have a tough time getting Graham involved versus the Panthers. Carolina’s secondary has been surprisingly good so far, holding TEs to only 8.94 fantasy points per game (seventh-best in the NFL).

Cowboys’ Dalton Schultz (vs. Cardinals): Even with Dalton leading the Cowboys on offense, the defense is so bad all of their WRs — albeit they will understandably see a downgrade at QB — can still be relevant in fantasy football. At the same time, it’s hard to believe that Dalton Schultz can remain as a consistent contributor in the offense sans Dak.

Schultz has been a pleasant surprise for the Cowboys in wake of the season-ending injury to Blake Jarwin, posting 17+ fantasy points in two out of the past four weeks. Just a week ago though, Schultz tallied only 1.6 fantasy points versus the New York Giants and faces a Arizona defense that’s limited opposing TEs to a 38 percent success rate (best in the NFL) and 5.7 yards per attempt (sixth-best in the NFL).
