Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 4

QBs to start in Week 4

Bengals’ Joe Burrow (vs. Jaguars): Each and every week, Joe Burrow begins to look more and more like the quarterback we saw at LSU in 2019. Even though he wasn’t able to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 3, Burrow notched his second consecutive week of having 20+ fantasy points.

After an unfortunate tie against the Eagles, Burrow will have a chance to make it three straight weeks of 20+ points versus the inexperienced defense of the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jaguars come into Week 4 having allowed Ryan Fitzpatrick to score 25.2 points in Week 3 and Ryan Tannehill 26.76 points in Week 2.

Lions’ Matthew Stafford (vs. Saints): Finally, after extending their losing streak to 11 games after losing to the Green Bay Packers in Week 2, the Detroit Lions got into the win column in Week 3 against the Arizona Cardinals. A large reason why was due to the play of Matthew Stafford and Detroit’s aerial offense — who was ecstatic to get Kenny Golladay back.

Stafford completed 71 percent of his passes for 270 yards and two scores, finishing with 18.5 points. The veteran signal-caller will hope to continue his success against a New Orleans Saints defense that has been torched by Derek Carr and Aaron Rodgers in back-to-weeks. Altogether, the Saints surrendered a combined 567 yards and six touchdowns to Carr and Rodgers.

Rams’ Jared Goff (vs. Giants): The Los Angeles Rams and Jared Goff lost in heartbreaking fashion in Week 3 after making an unexpected comeback versus the Buffalo Bills. Despite a slow start in the first half, Goff would conclude the game with 27.24 points, making him the fifth-highest scoring QB in fantasy football this past week.

The former No. 1 pick has been efficient to begin the season and up next on the schedule is the winless New York Giants. While the Rams will want to get their run game going, Goff should have a solid outing against a New York defense — outside of James Bradberry — that has three defensive backs that allow a passer rating of 116.7+ when targeted this season.

Other QBs to consider in Week 4: Browns’ Baker Mayfield (vs. Cowboys), Dolphins’ Ryan Fitzpatrick (vs. Seahawks), Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger (vs. Titans)

QBs to sit in Week 4

Bears’ Nick Foles (vs. Colts): One of the main storylines in the NFL this season was when — or if — the Chicago Bears would bench Mitchell Trubisky in favor of Nick Foles. The change occurred in Week 3 when the Bears were down 26-10 against the Atlanta Falcons, only for Foles to lead them to a come-from-behind victory.

Don’t look now but Chicago is 3-0 and are in the race for the NFC North title if Foles can give them formidable play from under center. However, Foles may have a tough time repeating his performance from Week 3 against a stingy Indianapolis Colts defense that has given up only 454 passing yards and 8.69 fantasy points per week to QBs (both are best in the NFL).

Colts’ Philip Rivers (vs. Bears): On the other side of the field from Foles, Philip Rivers will look to spoil Chicago’s plans of improving to 4-0 on the season. While the Colts are 2-1 themselves, Rivers hasn’t put up the numbers that many expected he would behind Indianapolis’ stout offensive line.

In the first three weeks, Rivers has scored just 1.42 more points than Justin Herbert — who has started in just two games this season. It’s unlikely that Rivers sees much more success in Week 4 against a Chicago defense that has allowed only two passing touchdowns this season (tied for least in the NFL).
