Fantasy Football: Position-by-Position Start ‘Em Sit ‘Em Picks for Week 8

QBs to start in Week 8

Panthers’ Teddy Bridgewater (vs. Falcons): Teddy Bridgewater has been extremely efficient for the Carolina Panthers, completing 72.2 percent of his passes for 1,930 yards and eight touchdowns in seven weeks. After torching them for 20.82 fantasy points in Week 5, Bridgewater will face the Atlanta Falcons, who have allowed 2,515 total yards and 22 total touchdowns to QBs (both are most in the NFL). Bridgewater is a perfect bye-week fill-in QB in Week 8.

Eagles’ Carson Wentz (vs. Cowboys): There’s no doubt that starting Carson Wentz in fantasy football produced disappointing results to begin the season. But he’s since had a revival in recent weeks, posting 21+ fantasy points in four out of the past five games for the Philadelphia Eagles. What’s even better is that Wentz faces an abysmal Dallas Cowboys defense in Week 8 that is surrendering 15 passing touchdowns (tied for fourth-most in the NFL) and 20.71 fantasy points per game to QBs (10th worst in the NFL).

Bengals’ Joe Burrow (vs. Titans): The Tennessee Titans don’t exactly have an imposing defense this season as they are allowing QBs to have plenty of time to throw the ball. Through the first seven weeks, the Titans have just seven sacks (tied for second-fewest in the NFL), which should allow Joe Burrow to excel in Week 8 behind the Cincinnati Bengals’ porous offensive line. Burrow is coming off of the best game of his career in which he threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns versus the Cleveland Browns.

Other QBs to consider in Week 8: Raiders’ Derek Carr (vs. Browns), Chargers’ Justin Herbert (vs. Broncos), Browns’ Baker Mayfield (vs. Raiders)

QBs to sit in Week 8

Giants’ Daniel Jones (vs. Buccaneers): Besides (supposedly) reaching 21+ MPH and then nosediving before reaching the end zone, Daniel Jones had his best performance in Week 7 against the Eagles. The second-year quarterback rushed for 92 yards en route to scoring a season-high 20.68 fantasy points. Sadly for Jones, he squares off against a daunting Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense that is limiting QBs to 13.79 fantasy points per game (third-fewest in the NFL) and have sacked QBs 25 times (second-most in the NFL).

Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa (vs. Rams): The time has come for Tua Tagovailoa to make his first career start for the Miami Dolphins. However, the rookie QB’s first start will come against a hot Los Angeles Rams defense that is led by Aaron Donald in the interior. The Rams have held opposing QBs to eight passing touchdowns (tied for third-fewest in the NFL) and have taken down the QB 24 times (tied for third-most in the NFL).
