Aaron Rodgers
One of the hot topics of the offseason was the lack of help the Green Bay Packers got for Aaron Rodgers. After a season where Davante Adams was the Green Bay’s only reliable wide receiver, the Packers’ only offseason move included signing the likes of Devin Funchess.
With Adams and a revolving door in the rest of the offense, Rodgers had one of the worst years of his career in 2019. The one-time Super Bowl winner managed to throw for 26 touchdowns and only four interceptions. However, he would average only 250.1 passing yards per game (third-lowest mark in his career.
In terms of fantasy football, Rodgers has seen a slight drop-off in recent seasons. Here’s a look at Rodgers’ recent seasons, aside from 2017 — when he missed nine games due to a broken collarbone.
Fantasy points (rank among QBs) | Passing attempts per game (rank among QBs) | Passing Touchdowns (rank among QBs) | |
2015 | 301.2 (7th) | 35.7 (17th) | 31 (10th) |
2016 | 380 (1st) | 38.1 (5th) | 40 (1st) |
2018 | 312.5 (6th) | 37.3 (7th) | 25 (13th) |
2019 | 282.3 (10th) | 35.5 (13th) | 26 (9th) |
As you can see, Rodgers has continued to see fewer passing attempts per game. And seeing that the Packers added A.J. Dillon to a backfield that already features Aaron Jones and Jamaal Williams, his attempts could see even more of a hit in 2020.
In previous seasons, Rodgers was a surefire starting quarterback that was a safe option in fantasy football. But with him being taken ahead of Matt Ryan, Drew Brees, and Tom Brady in most drafts, Rodgers could be massively underwhelming next season.
