Aaron Jones, Green Bay Packers
While David Montgomery’s stock has gone up due to an offseason addition, Aaron Jones‘ stock might have gone down.
Jones was one of the highest-scoring players in all of fantasy football last season, but a prime candidate for regression thanks in large part to the Packers second-round draft pick of AJ Dillon, the 247-pound running back tailor-made to steal goalline carries away from Jones.
This typically wouldn’t be a huge issue, but most of Jones’ fantasy production came from his ability to find the endzone. Jones tied for first in the NFL last season in touchdown carries with 16, and even added three receiving touchdowns to his impressive 2019 resume.
Touchdown-reliant players are always a risk for regression, but especially with the addition of Dillon to the offense, Jones’ fantasy production might take a big hit. He’s still a quality running back, and someone you want on your roster, but his rushing production wasn’t quite where you would want it to be for an RB1.
With Dillon on the roster, as well as Jamaal Williams, Jones might struggle to separate from the pack and produce anywhere near the level he did in 2019.
