Fantasy Football: Ranking the NFC North starting running backs in 2020

Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings

Minnesota Vikings running back was a clear-cut RB1 in 2019, and there’s no reason to think he won’t be able to reach that level again in 2020.

Dalvin Cook saw a heavy workload on the ground in 2019 and did a lot with it, ending the year top ten in the NFL with 250 carries and 1,135 yards in just 14 games. Adding onto that impressive ground game, Cook was also a factor in the receiving game, adding 53 carries for 519 yards.

Alexander Mattison might be a threat to take a good share of carries away from Cook as Mattison heads into his second year in the league, but the Vikings are a run-heavy team with carries to go around, and Minnesota clearly views Cook as a do-it-all starter.

Assuming he plays a full 16-game schedule, there’s not much reason to think Cook won’t be the top-tier running back in 2020 that he was in 2019. He should be an early-round target for fantasy players looking to address running back in the first couple of rounds.
