Fantasy Football: What to expect from Robert Tonyan in 2021

Robert Tonyan took the NFL by storm during the 2020 season with the Green Bay Packers. He went from being a no-name tight end to a household name among Fantasy Football players. A lot of that had to do with the fact that he was catching passes from Aaron Rodgers, but Tonyan is a big, athletic body with a ton of potential moving forward.

Looking ahead to the 2021 season, there are a lot of questions surrounding Tonyan’s name in the Fantasy Football world. Would he be worth targeting as a starting tight end like he was for the majority of last season? Can he continue producing at the level that he did last year?

Along with the questions about Tonyan’s ability, there are a ton of questions about the Packers’ offense in general. Rumors have been swirling that Rodgers is done with Green Bay. If that is the case, their offense would likely take a major hit in production.

Despite all of the questions, we are going to be approaching this article with the belief that Rodgers will end up playing with the Packers. It seems very unlikely that they are going to trade him and it seems even more unlikely that he would sit out an entire season just to stay away from Green Bay.

All of that being said, let’s take a look at what Fantasy Football players should expect from Robert Tonyan in 2021.

What To Expect From Robert Tonyan This Season

During the 2020 season with the Packers, Tonyan put up big-time numbers as the starting tight end. He caught 52 passes for 586 yards and 11 touchdowns. Those numbers made him a player that many Fantasy Football players chose to start throughout the majority of the season.

He was a massive red zone target for the Packers and has big-play potential down the middle of the field. No matter who the quarterback for the Packers ends up being in 2021, his upside is still the same.

Tonyan is going to have another good season and Fantasy Football players should not shy away from taking him. His numbers were no fluke, nor were they simply put up because he played with Rodgers. The 27-year-old tight end out of Indiana State simply has game and that should not be discounted.

We are predicting that Tonyan will produce around 50 receptions for 550 yards and another 10 touchdowns in 2021. If those numbers end up being accurate, he would be a fringe starting tight end in most leagues. At the very least, you should target him as your TE2 and could play him in spot starts against weak defenses.

Green Bay loves utilizing tight ends in Matt LaFleur’s offense. Jordan Love may not be Aaron Rodgers, but he is a talented quarterback that will look for his big target if he is forced into the action. If Rodgers starts, we all know the chemistry that he has with Tonyan.

Robert Tonyan is a guy that you should target in your draft. He may not be a top-three Fantasy Football tight end this season, but he is a good option nonetheless.
