Despite only playing 41% of the Ravens offensive snaps in 2019, Hurst still finished with a top-10 receiving grade on Pro Football Focus. His production should only go up in a pass happy offense where he’s the featured tight end.
Last season, Hooper was one of the most productive fantasy tight ends in the league. Through the first eight weeks, he led all tight ends in receptions (52), touchdowns (five) and fantasy points. It may be a stretch to say Hurst will be able to duplicate this output, but he’ll still slot in as the third receiving option behind Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley.
Hurst should also see ample time in the slot this season, as the Falcons lined Hooper in the slot quite often in 2019. Hooper ranked in the top-5 in both catches and targets from the slot among tight ends last season. Expect Hurst to get similar looks from the slot in 2020.
Entering his third year, it’s not hard to envision Hurst having a breakout campaign. With a change of scenery and a new offense that loves to utilize their starting tight end, Hurst should be a very productive fantasy tight end this upcoming season.
