He’ll Be a PPR Monster
With backs such as Le’Veon Bell, Todd Gurley, and David Johnson setting the standard for fantasy running backs, those who can make catches outside the backfield are valued above all else.
Receiving skills separate the men from the boys, as names such as Leonard Fournette, LeSean McCoy, and Melvin Gordon fall to the second round without soft hands.
Given the crazy workload that number 26 is expected to shoulder, as well as New York’s penchant for airing the football out, Barkley will have elite upside as both a runner and a receiver. Even in non-PPR leagues, he’ll still have fruitful outputs that can offer an additional five-to-ten extra fantasy points through the air. He is talented enough to catch ten screens in a game and turn it into 50-plus yards and a score, so his stats can only get better in the open field.
While it’s far from a certainty, Barkley could end up with 2,000 scrimmage yards in his rookie campaign. The thought of that potential should have you drooling on your keyboard if he’s available when you pick.
