Jordan Poyer is no longer a member of the Buffalo Bills, but that does not mean he doesn’t still have a great respect for quarterback Josh Allen.

Poyer—who signed with the Miami Dolphins in free agency—was present at former teammate Micah Hyde’s charity softball game in Buffalo over the weekend, and he had some very strong words about Allen when he addressed the crowd.

“Seven years out here, man,” Poyer said. “I loved every moment of it. Thank you so much for allowing me to grow as a person, as a player. Teammates, coaches, everybody, man, I loved every moment of it. Sorry we couldn’t get it done, but you’ve got the best quarterback in the league. I know that might go viral, but it’s okay. I get to see y’all twice a year. I can’t wait. You guys come down to Miami. I get to come back to Orchard Park one more time.”

In an NFL that includes Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes, that is a bold statement, indeed.

Still, you have to really appreciate Poyer showing love to the Buffalo fans and Allen, demonstrating that there was no hard feelings from being cut by the Bills earlier this offseason.

The 33-year-old safety initially joined Buffalo in free agency back in 2017 and enjoyed a very successful seven-year run with the club.

Poyer had a breakout season during his debut campaign with the Bills, racking up 95 tackles, five interceptions, a fumble recovery, 13 passes defended and a defensive touchdown.

He then logged 100 or more tackles for three straight seasons between 2018 and 2020, and in 2021, he earned a First-Team All-Pro selection after registering 93 tackles, three sacks, five picks and nine passes defended.

Poyer would then go on to make a trip to the Pro Bowl in 2022, finishing with 63 tackles, four interceptions, a forced fumble and eight passes defended.

Most recently, the Oregon State product recorded 100 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble in 16 games with Buffalo last season.

Poyer was originally selected by the Philadelphia Eagles in the seventh round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but played just three contests with the Eagles before being waived.

He then joined the Cleveland Browns, where he would proceed to spend parts of four seasons before eventually signing with the Bills.

Meanwhile, Josh Allen has made a pair of Pro Bowl appearances since being drafted by Buffalo in 2018. He finished fifth in MVP voting in 2023.
