Cleveland Browns signal caller Deshaun Watson is one of the most talented and physically capable quarterbacks in the NFL, and amidst all he’s been through over the last couple of years, it’s easy to forget just how good he is.

In 2020, his last full season, he led the NFL with 4,823 passing yards while completing 70.2 percent of his pass attempts and throwing 33 touchdown passes.

But since then, he has demanded a trade, gotten embroiled in dozens of sexual misconduct allegations and struggled as a member of the Browns following the trade he requested.

Watson has been involved in a new controversy, as he has been banged up with a shoulder injury, and there has been a cloud of mystery surrounding his availability, as he missed three games before briefly returning in Sunday’s win over the Indianapolis Colts.

Former NFL quarterback Brady Quinn, who played three seasons for the Browns, questioned whether Watson even wants to play football anymore, citing the huge five-year, $230 million contract he signed shortly after they traded for him in March 2022.

Quinn then got into a heated exchange with Quincy Avery, who is Watson’s personal quarterback trainer, and Quinn then made a weird suggestion that alluded to Watson’s sexual misconduct allegations.

Watson has faced accusations from dozens of massage therapists for some creepy and perverted actions. It has led some, including even Browns fans, to rue the fact that he was given such a big contract and was levied a mere 11-game suspension by the league last season.

When Watson has been in uniform for Cleveland, he hasn’t at all resembled the man he was in 2020.

In six games last season, he completed only 58.2 percent of his passes and threw five interceptions. So far this year, he hasn’t been much better — he has a 61.7 percent completion rate, 683 passing yards, four touchdown passes and three interceptions in four contests.

But somehow, the shorthanded Browns have fought to a 4-2 record on the strength of their defense, and they’re winning some games they have arguably had no business winning without Deshaun Watson and star running back Nick Chubb, who is out for the year with a knee injury.
