Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Davante Adams does not seem happy in his current surroundings, and former NFL quarterback and current ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky understands why.
Speaking on Adams on ESPN’s Get Up earlier this week, Orlovsky said that he feels the superstar should ultimately demand a trade.
“He should ask to be traded,” Orlovsky said (h/t JPAFootball). “His Hall of Fame career is being wasted. Right now, this is a bad football team. There’s no known future of who is going to be playing quarterback there.”
Orlovsky added that he does not want to see Adams “waste away” with the Raiders.
Adams himself has criticized Las Vegas multiple times this year.
Earlier in the season, the 30-year-old lambasted the Raiders’ organizational culture after a 1-3 start and said that he does not have time to just wait around. Then, following Las Vegas’ Week 6 win over the New England Patriots, Adams expressed displeasure with his lack of activity, as he logged just two catches on five targets in the victory. He also totaled four grabs on four targets the week prior.
Adams’ apparent discontent has prompted trade speculation in the lead-up to the Oct. 31 NFL deadline, although nothing concrete has surfaced.
The six-time Pro Bowler is under contract through 2026, so the Raiders do not have to be in any rush to move him even if he asks for a trade over the next week.
Las Vegas originally acquired Davante Adams in a blockbuster trade with the Green Bay Packers back in March 2022.
On the season overall, the Fresno State product has registered 46 catches for 528 yards and three touchdowns. He hauled in 100 receptions for 1,516 yards and 14 scores during his debut campaign in Vegas last season.
The Raiders are 3-4 and are coming off of a brutal Week 7 loss to the Chicago Bears. They will take on the Detroit Lions next Monday.
