Former Patriots TE thinks Aaron Rodgers will end up in New England

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers may be heading for a split at some point in the next few years. Following the team’s decision to trade up in the 2020 NFL Draft for quarterback Jordan Love, that seems like a likely situation. Now, it appears the New England Patriots are a favored future landing spot for Rodgers.

Former Patriots tight end Christian Fauria took some time to share his thoughts on Rodgers’ future. He thinks Rodgers will end up with the Patriots when everything is said and done.

“Can we say this? Aaron Rodgers — the next Patriots QB.”

Thinking about Rodgers in New England is a very weird thing to do. However, it makes a lot of sense for both parties.

Cam Newton is currently expected to be the main starter for the Patriots in 2020. New England is hoping that he can revert back to his former MVP-caliber self. If that doesn’t happen, the Patriots will head back to the drawing board at the quarterback position.

Bill Belichick no longer has Tom Brady on the field. While Newton is a talented player and Jarrett Stidham has a ton of talent, bringing in a guy like Rodgers would make a lot of sense.

The Patriots are never going to be fine with mediocrity. They are going to want to continue competing for a Super Bowl. Rodgers would be the guy that could take them back to that level of play.

Rodgers has been adamant about wanting to play into his 40’s. Assuming that does end up being the case, he will have three or four years to play after leaving Green Bay. The Packers will have to move on from him at some point in the next three or four years if they want to transition to Love.

All of that being said, it will be interesting to see if this ends up happening. Rodgers and Belichick would be an extremely fun pair to watch work together. It would give both the Patriots and Rodgers a chance to compete for a championship and the organization definitely fits his mentality.
