Former Seahawks Star Brutally Rips ‘Garbage’ Jamal Adams

The Seattle Seahawks suffered their fourth loss in a row and fifth in their last six games to the San Francisco 49ers in Week 14. Seattle once looked like a surefire playoff team, but at 6-7 on the season, they are watching their postseason hopes drift away with each loss.

Against the 49ers, one of the players who was present most often was safety Jamal Adams. On the first play from scrimmage of the game, Adams was blown past by 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey for a 72-yard run.

It led to head coach Pete Carroll calling him out after the game. Alas, that wasn’t where the piling on of Adams stopped. During a recent episode of his podcast, “KJ All Day”, former Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright ripped into the former All-Pro and Pro Bowler as well.

In the comment section, a viewer wrote, “Adams is hot garbage lol” in the chat. Wright saw the comment and offered up this quip in response to cohost Gee Scott. “Say what I’m thinking right now, Gee. You say it. I don’t want to say it. It starts with the letter Y and ends with an S.”

It is fair to assume Wright agrees with the commenter, as he mouthed the word “yes” three times. Wright and Adams were teammates in Seattle in 2020, the last time Adams made the Pro Bowl and earned a spot on the All-Pro Second Team.

But, the trade to acquire Adams from the New York Jets has turned out to be a massive loss for the Seahawks. They surrendered first-round picks in the 2021 and 2022 NFL Drafts to land Adams and a 2021 fourth-round pick. The payoff from the blockbuster has not been anywhere near as impactful as the organization thought it would be.

In three seasons with the Jets, Adams played in 46 games and was a premier playmaker. He totaled 273 tackles with 12.0 sacks, 28 tackles for loss, 23 quarterback hits, two interceptions, 25 passes defended, four fumble recoveries and six forced fumbles.

Those numbers haven’t been close to being replicated in Seattle. In four seasons and only 32 games, Adams has totaled 221 tackles, 9.5 sacks, 22 tackles for loss, 19 quarterback hits, two interceptions, 11 passes defended and one forced fumble.

On pace to have the worst season of his career, Adams has not lived up to expectations. He has the third-highest cap hit on the team as well, which in large part is why he has been so heavily criticized. It would not be surprising if the Seahawks move on from Adams this offseason as his play doesn’t warrant the contract he signed.
