The Cincinnati Bengals have put a tough start in 2022 all the way behind them. Their victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 13 pushed their record to 8-4 as they are riding a four-game winning streak. This is as good of a bounce-back that the team could have had after an embarrassing Monday Night Football performance against the Cleveland Browns in Week 8.

Since that point, Cincinnati has been clicking on all cylinders despite some injuries to overcome. One constant in the lineup throughout that time has been quarterback Joe Burrow, who is cementing his status as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.

He has been playing at a high level and Sunday was no different. In a huge game against Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, Burrow put together another excellent performance. This is the third time that Burrow has faced off against Mahomes and he is the only quarterback that is undefeated against the Chiefs star. The three victories that he has compiled, all of which have come in the last 12 months, tied with him Tom Brady for the most against Mahomes in his career.

In the most recent matchup, Burrow completed 25-of-31 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns. He added 46 rushing yards on 11 attempts, adding another score on the ground as well.

Another marquee performance in a marquee matchup is something that a lot of people took notice of. Praise has been heaped on him and one person that spoke very highly of Burrow is Phil Simms.

During the post-game show, Simms compared Burrow to Hall of Famer, Joe Montana. Simms believes that Burrow is the modern day Montana, but with a bigger arm and probably moves around better than Montana, too.

That is some high praise to receive, but it is certainly warranted. Burrow is playing at a high level, as Mahomes also spoke highly about him leading up to their matchup last week. On the season for the Bengals, Burrow has completed 69.1 percent of his passes for 3,446 yards and 25 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions. He has added 224 rushing yards and another five scores on the ground as Burrow is in the midst of an excellent season.
