Gerald McCoy speaks out on signing with the Dallas Cowboys

Gerald McCoy was one of the top defensive tackles on the NFL free agency market this offseason. After a few days of listening to offers, McCoy decided to sign with the Dallas Cowboys. It was a big addition for Dallas that will help them shore up their defense in a major area of need.

Following his decision to sign with the Cowboys, McCoy spoke out with a few thoughts he has about the team. He seems very excited to be a part of the next chapter of football in Dallas.

Last season with the Carolina Panthers, McCoy was not utilized in a role that suited him. He moved around way too much and he wasn’t a fan of that. The Cowboys are going to get him back in the role that he needs to be most successful.

He ended up recording 37 total tackles to go along with five sacks and two defended passes. Those numbers simply weren’t what McCoy was hoping for with Carolina. Now, he will have a chance to right the ship with the Cowboys.

Speaking of the Cowboys, they are entering a brand new era of football with Mike McCarthy as their head coach. Gone are the days of Jason Garrett patrolling the sidelines. There is a lot of excitement going through the organization.

At 32 years old, McCoy isn’t getting any younger and he wanted to find the best situation possible for himself. He signed a three-year deal with the Cowboys, which signifies that he trusts the organization.

Expect to see the Cowboys and McCoy fit perfectly moving forward. McCoy never be an elite defensive tackle again, but he can absolutely be a monster in the right situation.
