Saquan Barkley Leads the NFL in All-Purpose Yards
Saquan Barkley finished with a No. 12 ranking in all-purpose yards last season. While that may seem disappointing for a player of Barkley’s talents, it is important to remember that he was dealing with injuries for a majority of last season. Saquan was out for three weeks and when he came back, it took a while for him to get going again.
On top of dealing with injuries, Barkly had to play behind an offensive line that genuinely struggled. The Giants have since drafted Andrew Thomas and in doing so, a big boost should be in store for their offensive line. On top of that, selecting Matt Peart was timely considering New York will be without Nate Solder this season.
It’s difficult to not be impressed by Barkley. He does an excellent job of letting his blocks develop making his patience one aspect that separates him from the rest of the NFL’s running backs. Check out this breakdown from the NFL’s Brian Baldinger that highlights how the Giants’ offensive line is the key to Saquan’s success.
Simply put, Barkley is an unbelievable talent. Apart from Derrick Henry, he is likely the most powerful running back in the NFL. However, Barkley matches that tremendous power with extraordinary speed and balance. Barkley isn’t just a runner as he is one of the best receiving backs in the NFL.
While Christian McCaffrey was posting 1,000 yards rushing and receiving was an incredible feat, Barkley could possibly be in for a similar season as well. This season could feature the Giants’ star running back leading the NFL in all-purpose yards.
