The New York Giants are one of the teams many analysts and fans are keeping an eye on ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft. Currently, in the No. 6 slot, there are several routes the team can take once the draft rolls around.

With several holes on the roster to fill, the Giants could opt to stay pat and select the best player available once they come on the clock. Quarterback and wide receiver, in the opinion of many, are the two positions they should be looking at the hardest at No. 6.

New York could also get aggressive and look to make a trade up the board. General manager Joe Schoen has shown he isn’t afraid to wheel and deal up and down the draft board, making several trades in his two seasons at the helm for the Giants.

If Big Blue is dead set on landing one of the top three quarterbacks in this year’s draft class, a trade-up has to occur. One of the quarterbacks they could target in such a move is reigning Heisman Trophy winner, Jayden Daniels out of LSU.

Daniels is one of the many players whom the Giants met with this week at the NFL Combine. He spoke a little bit about how the meeting went and what was asked of him. From the sounds of it, New York’s brain trust put him through a lot of X’s and O’s scenarios, wanting to see how he worked through film.

Making a move up the draft board to select Daniels, Drake Maye or Caleb Williams would certainly excite the fan base. There is a large contingent that is ready to move on from Daniel Jones as the team’s starting quarterback and landing one of those three prospects would signal that change.

If the Giants are unable to move up the board and remain at six, they will be in prime position to select one of the stud receivers in this year’s draft class. Without moving, New York would be guaranteed one of the three quarterbacks, Marvin Harrison Jr., Rome Odunze or Malik Nabers.

Nabers, who played with Daniels at LSU, had a record-setting 2023 campaign. He has all the tools to become a No. 1 receiver in the NFL, something the Giants are certainly lacking. During his presser at the NFL Combine, he also spoke highly of New York from their meeting.

“I know they’re looking for that WR1, especially after Odell left. If I can come in and be that guy, so be it,” Nabers said. He also added that Giants head coach Brian Daboll really liked him when he was asked about the possibility of New York selecting him.

Landing either of the LSU stars would be considered a win for the Giants by many evaluators. Either they reset the quarterback clock with a high-upside prospect or land the No. 1 receiver they have been lacking during Jones’ tenure.
