Round 3, Pick 104: Terrell Burgess (S, Utah)
Grade: A-
To continue the theme of defense, the Rams selected Terrell Burgess with the No. 104 pick in the third round out of Utah. Throughout his career at Utah, Burgess spent time at safety and cornerback, giving Los Angeles another versatile piece in the secondary.
Prior to Burgess being drafted, the Rams had Taylor Rapp slated to replace Eric Weddle at strong safety and John Johnson to man the free safety position again in 2020. The possibilities are endless with Burgess, as Los Angeles could have him compete for the starting nickel job following the release of Nickell Robey-Coleman.
At the same time, they could allow Burgess to play safety and allow Rapp to patrol closer to the line of scrimmage in more of a hybrid linebacker role. Near the end of the third round, getting a versatile player like Burgess is a positive addition for the Rams.
