Grading all of the Rams’ draft picks in the 2020 NFL Draft

Round 7, Pick 248: Sam Sloman (K, Miami (Ohio)

Grade: F

Every year in the draft, there are a few teams that always waste a late-round pick on a kicker. It just so happens that this year, the Rams decided to be a team that would use the No. 248 pick on Sam Sloman out of Miami (Ohio).

The decision to select a kicker in the seventh round wouldn’t have been completely uncalled for if Los Angeles hadn’t just signed two kickers, Lirim Hajrullahu and Austin MacGinnis in free agency. Of course, the Rams do need to find a kicker to replace Greg Zuerlein next season.

However, taking a kicker that possibly won’t make the roster seems like a massive waste of a pick. With all due respect to Sloman, the Rams couldn’t find a better use of a seventh-round pick in the draft than a kicker?
