Clay Matthews Will Play in All 16 Games
First and foremost, Clay Matthews will finally stay relatively injury free and will play in every single regular season game. That will be a major positive for the Packers’ chances to compete for the NFC North division title.
Last season, Matthews was able to play in 14 games. The season before, however, Matthews was only able to play in 12 games. Green Bay’s defense is completely different when Matthews is unable to play.
Assuming Matthews does stay healthy and plays in every single regular season, his numbers are going to improve. Green Bay needed more pass rushing last season and they are hoping Matthews can bring just that to the table.
