Green Bay Packers: 3 Bold Predictions for Clay Matthews in 2018

Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

He Will Rack Up at Least 12 Sacks

Next up, the Packers are going to get exactly what they are hoping for from Matthews in 2018. They need more pass rushing and he is more than capable of making that happen. Matthews recorded 8.5 sacks last season, but that number will rise this year.

Expecting around 12 sacks would be reasonable for the 32-year-old linebacker. He may not have been the 13 sack threat that he was early in his career over the past couple seasons, but he will get back to that level.

New defensive coordinator Mike Pettine is all about pressure and playmaking. In order for his scheme to work, Matthews is going to be asked to put pressure on the quarterback at a high level.

Matthews may not be in the “prime” of his career anymore, but he is still more than capable of racking up 12 sacks.
