Josh Jones, Defensive Back
While Josh Jones is technically listed as a safety, he will see plenty of time at different positions. He will see time at safety, possibly cornerback, and likely linebacker. Green Bay loves players that can play multiple defensive positions and Mike Pettine will get the most out of Jones in his second season.
Last season with the Packers, Jones had a very similar hybrid role. He ended up with 71 tackles, an interception, two sacks, and five defended passes during his rookie year.
Some may wonder how Jones could have a “breakout” year following his impressive rookie season. He certainly can, because he will be a much better playmaker this year than he was last season. Green Bay needs as much playmaking as they can get and Jones is ready for a bigger role.
Green Bay has to feel good about the future of their defense with so many talented, young players. Jones is one of the most talented players that they have on their roster and the future couldn’t be brighter for him.
