Green Bay Packers: 3 Players Who Must Step Up in Order to Make a Playoff Run

Journal Sentinel – USA Today Sports

Josh Jones, Defensive Back

Due to the trade of Ha Ha Clinton-Dix, the Packers have finally given second-year defensive back Josh Jones the playing time he deserves. Prior to the trade, Jones had expressed frustration with the lack of a role. Now, he is going to be depended on heavily to help Green Bay make the playoffs.

He has played in six games with the Packers this season, but has only had a big role the last two weeks. In those two games with an increased role, Jones has racked up 11 tackles.

At 24 years old, Jones is going to be a key piece for the Packers’ long-term plans in addition to this year. He can play strong safety, but is also more than capable of playing a linebacker role as well. The ability to play multiple positions has made him extremely valuable for Green Bay.

Jones has legitimate star potential, but he will need to show improvement and development this season to help take the Packers back to the playoffs after missing last season.
